Mother's Day.
Then, forgetting his work, his cap went on.
And he was off to the garden swing,
Leaving his mother the wood to bring.
"I love you, Mother," said rosy Nell,
"I love you better than tongue can tell."
Then she teased and pouted half the day.
Till her mother was glad when she went to play.
"I love you, Mother," said little Fan,
"Today I'll help you all I can;"
To the cradle she did softly creep,
and rocked the baby till he fell asleep.
Then stepping softly, she took the broom,
And swept the floor, and dusted the room.
Busy and happy all day was she;
Helpful and happy as a child could be.
"I love you, Mother," again they said,
Three little children going to bed.
How do you think that mother guessed
Which of them really loved her best?

Food Storage Rocks!

IN a field one summer’s day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart’s content. An Ant passed by, bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest.
“Why not come and chat with me,” said the Grasshopper, “instead of toiling and moiling in that way?”
“I am helping to lay up food for the winter,” said the Ant, “and recommend you to do the same.”
“Why bother about winter?” said the Grasshopper; “we have got plenty of food at present.”
But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil. When the winter came the Grasshopper had no food, and found itself dying of hunger, while it saw the ants distributing every day corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer. Then the Grasshopper knew:
“It is best to prepare for the days of necessity.”

Learning from the Perfect Gardener
We have all planted gardens,
And so we well know,
You cannot plant a seed,

And expect it just to grow.
When planting a garden or flower,
Each gardener does her part,
To remove the weeds that choke,
Right from the very start.
Neither life, nor friends are perfect. That is part of our test here on earth. But every day we can all become just a little more like Christ.
