New Years Resolution

December blogging was a mixture of November burn out and Christmas stress, so while my new years resolution isn't really to be a better blogger, I really will do better. For Christmas I got a camera so I have been taking lots of pictures of my angel to post. It is more fun to post about Glen then just about anything so I have serious incentive. In the mean time her is an idea to think over.
Which would be a bigger hit, a sock store named "Darn it!" or a water proof book so you can read while you shower?

No Unhallowed Hand

"The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persicutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independant, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept ever country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the great Jehovah shall say the work is done"

(History of the Church 4:540 emphasis added)

As to the Truth going forth, I plan to help out so that When it comes time I will hear my Savior say "Well done my good and faithful servant."

Wow!

Wow! All I can say is wow! You will see why in the next, I don't know, 10 posts or so. Let me tell you what happened. My good friend Miranda called me up last night and says "Hey, Ruth, I know it's short notice and all, but I have tickets to this choir thing. Do you want to go with me." I decide to go, John practicably kicked me out of the house for a girls night, but I had no idea what I was in for. It's not until I am down town standing in a huge long line that I start wondering what this event is. Then I think of the date, the five mile long lines, and the fact that it is the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I had unwittingly gotten tickets to the event of the year. I, and just about every one of my in laws, tried to get tickets to "Ring Christmas Bells," but no one had gotten any. Then out of the blue my friend has some, not even really knowing how terrific they are and invites me. Wow! Am I glad John kicked me out of the house, and told me I better go have fun. I could have died when i found out. Then Miranda starts telling me about her friend or co-worker who was in the Choir and she has hook-ups and I'm just like, wow! yeah, wow!
So stay tuned for more on this fabulous performance. I took careful notes so I could tell my sister in law LaChelle all about it. I knew how much she wanted to go, and others, and when I found myself sitting in the conference center I pulled out paper and pen so I could record the event and write all about it. More about "Ring Christmas Bells" comming soon!

Imperfect and Perfect Love

I wanted to share a pretty awesome experience I had recently that has helped me to understand why heavenly Father wants us to get married and have kids. I think there are some things you can only learn as a spouse or parent. Let me share some thing I have learned.
Glen has just gotten his first two teeth. For a while there my little guy was really miserable. One night as I put him to bed and listened to him cry my heart just hurt. I wanted so much to make him feel better, to take his pain away so he could feel well, get to sleep and feel happy again. As I felt this strong desire to help me Child I started to think of love. I wanted to help Glen because I love him so much. My love is imperfect, so if I felt the desire to help Glen so strongly because of my imperfect love for him, how much stronger is Heavenly Father's and Jesus Christ's desire to help us? Their love is perfect and all encompassing.

Reasons

I think I know why heavenly Father sends babies to us so small. They are born and they sleep a lot right, Glen did. Then as they grow older they learn and grow. They begin to do more, roll over, sit up, crawl, before you know it you are chasing them around the house. I think the Lord sends us babies so little so that we are slowly built up to the running stage and scarier things. If they were suddenly thrust upon us as teens I doubt the best of parents would be able to handle it. How infinite and wonderful, the knowledge, mercy, and ways of the Lord God Almighty!

Prayer

I fell asleep while the kids were napping and I had a pretty cool dream that I want to tell you about. Usually I have really strange dreams about cow-llamas or swimming a pair of boots across the ocean, but occasionally the Lord speaks to me through a dream. I think this is one of those occasions.
I was eating in a restaurant with my family and my brother was asked to pray over the food. Being the considerate person that he is he wanted to make sure no one would be offended if we prayed so he asked every one else in the restaurant if it would be okay with them. There was a couple sitting close to us that was excited and wanted to participate in the prayer. I had the feeling that the gentleman would feel uncomfortable, but he seemed excited and so we included them. Andrew had not said more then a few words of the prayer when the man stood up and stopped him. He told my brother how weird it was that we were all closing our eyes and kneeling. The rest of the people in the company started saying no one was kneeling and standing up for the way we pray.
In my dream I remembered a book I had read and knew the Lord wanted me to tell him about what I had read. I told him that you do not have to be kneeling or close your eyes to pray, you do not have to say special words or say specific things. I saw in his eyes a hunger to know that God hears him and so I told him that Heavenly Father knows him personally and hears his prayers. Prayer is talking to God and that no matter what he says or how he prays Heavenly Father hears him.
I do not know why I had this dream, but I do know that Heavenly Father does know us each by name, we are his children. And I know that no matter what we say or how we pray He hears our prayers. He listens to us, cares for us, and loves us. Wen we pray we talk to Him and He so wants to hear from us. I know he listens to our prayers.

Fed Up!

I feel the need to vent a bit so skip this if you want.

I am absolutely fed up with all of the political correctness that is going around, it makes me sick. Christmas is a prime example. It offends non-Christians to have this holiday called Christmas so people want to call it the holiday instead. I am sorry if you are offended by me sticking with Christmas, but hear me out first. I am a Christian, Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ, therefor the name. If you are a non-Christian and want to celebrate another holiday be my guest, I will not stop you. I believe that all mean and women have the right to choose what they will or will not believe. I will not stop you, so please do not stop me. I have noticed a trend in those that ask for tolerance, for the most part they are not tolerant of others. A holiday that celebrated the birth of Christ should be called Christmas, a holiday commemorating Pioneers should be called Pioneer Day. I really think that the political correctness trend is doing more harm then good. Take for example Santa saying ho ho ho, he is now supposed to say ha ha ha so as not to offend. If you are offended by ho ho ho, you may need to take a look at your own life, not Santa's. I am boycotting political correctness because it is just so puerile.
